The first part of the instructions are warnings!
Warning: The weight rating on this product is 4000 lbs. DO NOT lift objects that
weight more than 4000 lbs. or the rating of your machine, whichever is less!
-
ONLY TRAINED OPERATORS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO OPERATE MACHINES!
-
MACHINES SHOULD ONLY BE OPERATED ON SURFACES SUITABLE FOR THAT
MACHINE! -
THE BOULDER BUDDY LIFT SYSTEM MAY COMPLICATE LOAD DISTRIBUTION SO
EXTREME CARE MUST BE TAKEN WHILE USING THE SYSTEM! -
DO NOT EXCEED THE LOAD LIFTING RATING OF YOUR MACHINE!
-
THE BOULDER BUDDY LIFT SYSTEM CAN LIFT UP TO 4000 POUNDS--FAILURE TO
MOVE THAT LOAD RESPONSIBLY CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH!
Now that you are ready to use the Boulder Buddy Lift System Safely, here's how it's done---
The first diagram identifies the parts of the Boulder Buddy Lift System.

C. Slide Chokers to tighten lift straps around object, wrapped for strength and durability

The BOULDER BUDDY has been engineered to make moving large rocks and boulders safer
and easier. Be aware of the use and rating tags on the product. The BOULDER BUDDY Lift
System is fully adjustable-that's patent pending and is where the magic happens!
The BOULDER BUDDY Lift System can be deployed and retracted in a few easy steps!
Step 1
The first step is to position the forks or bucket of your machine over the top of the boulder. Be
aware of overhead hazards!
Step 2
Place the lifting eyes on the forks or bucket of the machine allowing the Boulder Buddy system
to hang loosely. This allows the system to self-center and makes engaging the object much
easier.
Figs. 1 and 2
Step 3
Position the slack lifting straps around the object, ensuring that the lift straps engage a “lip” on
the bottom or side of the object. A bit of practice will allow you to find a “lip” that the
BOULDER BUDDY can catch but not get trapped under making retraction of the system easy so
you can move on to the next one!
Step 4
The next step is to slide the adjustable slide chokers down the lift straps to tighten the system
around the boulder. You should get the slide chokers as far down the lifting straps as possible
before lifting with the machine, allowing it to grip even tighter upon lifting.
Step 5
You are now ready to lift the object. We recommend a “test” lift to ensure the boulder is firmly
gripped by the system and will not become dislodged while being moved. The test lift should lift
the object just inches off of the ground. If the test lift seems unstable, lower the object and adjust
the lift system. If the machine operator is confident with the test lift, he may now move the
object and place it.
-
IT IS IMPORTANT TO TEST THE LOAD YOU ARE LIFTING TO ENSURE THE STABILITY OF YOUR
MACHINE AND THE BOULDER. BECAUSE YOU ARE MOVING THE LOAD AWAY FROM THE
MACHINE IT CAN AFFECT THE STABILITY OF YOUR MACHINE.
Step 6
After the object is placed, lower the forks or bucket of the machine and The Boulder Buddy
will release from the object. Move the slide chokers up toward the lifting eyes and remove the
lifting straps from the object. As tension is released from the object, the lifting eyes may also
disengage from the forks or bucket and the machine can be moved away from the work area.
-
BE AWARE THAT THE LOAD MAY SWING A BIT WHILE IN TRANSPORT. KEEP THE
OBJECT CLOSE TO THE GROUND, AND CONTROL SPEEDS WHILE STARTING,
STOPPING AND TURNING TO ENSURE SAFE OPERATION.
BE AWARE OF THE PROXIMITY OF YOUR MACHINE TO THE PEOPLE, VEHICLES,
TRAILER, FENCES, WALLS AND OTHER VERTICAL OBSTRUCTIONS WHILE
CRANING OBJECTS OVER OR NEAR THEM TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE.
STORAGE, CARE AND INSPECTION
The Boulder Buddy Lift System is made in the U.S.A., so it’s tough! The protective sleeve on the lift system protects it from abrasion, dirt, water and other contaminants. We know working outside is a dirty job. That being said, take good care of the system. As the saying goes, “Take good care of your tools, and they’ll take good care of you!” Follow this list of suggestions:
- Store the system is a dry area or in a tool box.
- Keep is away from knives, razors and other sharp objects that may cut or damage the system
- Keep the system away from high heat sources greater than 120 degrees Fahrenheit
- Visually inspect the system for damage before each use
- Remove the system from service immediately if it looks or acts damaged and contact us for
